A dishwasher that won’t start because the door latch microswitch has failed (or one that won’t stay closed because the tongue latch has worn out) is a very fixable fault. On older F&P Nemo and Nautilus dishwashers, the latch handle, microswitch, and tongue are all sold together as a single service kit so you do not have to chase individual parts.
This is the genuine Fisher & Paykel white dishwasher latch kit, part code 521809. The kit contains one latch handle, one lever microswitch, and one tongue latch, and is the official F&P NZ service part for the DW920, DW918, DW820, and DW818 dishwashers (early Nemo DW820 and early Nautilus DW920 models).

Compatibility
This 521809 latch kit is verified for the Fisher & Paykel DW920 and DW918 (Nautilus generation), and DW820 and DW818 (Nemo generation) front load dishwashers, in the early white finish. The verified models list appears in the table at the end of this description. The black versions of the same models use a different latch kit. The later Nautilus 912T / 913T uses kit 521811. Always cross check the model number on the data plate inside the door before ordering. The kit is supplied with all three components, even if only one has failed, since the three parts wear together.
How to Use and Installation Notes
- Switch off the dishwasher at the wall isolator and isolate water at the inlet tap.
- Pull the dishwasher out of the cavity per the F&P installation manual.
- Remove the outer door panel screws and lift the panel away to expose the latch assembly.
- Photograph the wiring positions on the failed microswitch before unplugging.
- Unscrew or unclip the failed latch handle, microswitch, and tongue latch from the door inner.
- Fit the new latch handle, microswitch, and tongue latch from the 521809 kit in the same positions.
- Reconnect the wiring to the microswitch in the same orientation as photographed.
- Refit the outer door panel.
- Restore water and power, slide the dishwasher back, then close the door fully and verify the door latches cleanly and the dishwasher starts without a door fault.
Fitting and Safety Note
Safety note: Mains powered appliance, switch off and unplug before any door panel work. The microswitch handles mains current via the door interlock, so wire it back exactly as removed.
